Since 2015, our organization has been at the forefront of technical support and capacity building in the field of Public Financial Management (PFM) and Tax Administration in Somalia. We have collaborated closely with the Banadir Regional Administration, the Directorate of Administration and Finance, the Federal Ministry of Finance, and finance ministries of Federal Member States to enhance PFM and tax administration capabilities. Our efforts have encompassed a wide range of activities, from building institutional and human resource capacities to reforming fiscal and budget policies. We have played a pivotal role in managing the budgetary process, mobilizing revenue through improved tax policy, and implementing strategies for public debt management. Our work has significantly contributed to promoting financial governance, combating corruption, and developing the financial sector, laying the groundwork for fiscal decentralization, local government empowerment, and enhancing transparency and accountability.
Our technical support has extended to macroeconomic and fiscal management analysis, aiding in the strategic planning and execution of economic policies. By fostering a better understanding of fiscal policies and budget management processes, we have helped the Somali government to implement crucial reforms in revenue mobilization and public debt management. Our interventions have also targeted the enhancement of financial governance and anti-corruption measures, contributing to the development of a more robust and transparent financial sector. These efforts are aimed at achieving a holistic improvement in PFM and Tax Administration, which is essential for Somalia’s economic stabilization and growth.
