Since 2015, We have been deeply involved in the Enhancing Capacities in Public Finance and Service Delivery Program in Somalia, an initiative designed to bolster the effectiveness and efficiency of public sector operations within the country. Our engagement has predominantly been centered around the execution of capacity injection programs at the federal level, specifically within the Ministry of Finance, and extending to the Banadir Regional Administration’s Directorate of Administration and Finance.
This comprehensive involvement has aimed at strengthening the foundational aspects of public finance management (PFM), ensuring that these critical government entities are well-equipped to manage resources effectively, implement reforms, and deliver services to the public in an accountable and transparent manner.
From 2022 to the present, our role has expanded to include substantial support to the Federal Member States, working closely with their Ministries of Finance. This collaboration has been crucial in driving public sector reform and enhancing public financial management and tax administration reform programs across Somalia. Through these efforts, we have aimed at creating a cohesive and unified approach towards PFM reforms, facilitating a conducive environment for sustainable development and economic growth.
Our work has not only contributed to building resilient public financial management systems but has also played a pivotal role in advocating for and implementing strategies that foster greater fiscal responsibility and governance, thereby laying the groundwork for a more transparent, efficient, and accountable public finance landscape in Somalia.
